Prima personale italiana per Beck Wheeler, giovane artista tedesca che vive e lavora in Nuova Zelanda. Le sue ultime ricerche saranno esposte, dal 16 giugno al 31 agosto 2012, presso la sede di CSArt (Via S. Pietro Martire, 16/A) a Reggio Emilia.
In mostra, una quindicina di opere tra disegni preparatori e sculture, realizzate a partire da utensili d'uso domestico, come setacci, fruste, cucchiai di legno ed apriscatole. Come si legge, infatti, nella nota critica di Chiara Serri, «L'artista dà vita ad un bestiario fantastico, coniugando oggetti trovati e colori brillanti, riconducibili al mondo dell'infanzia».
Creature immaginarie condite con molto pepe - il corpo è costituito da macinini di legno - ed un pizzico d'ironia, perché l'arte, come spiega la stessa artista, non deve essere necessariamente "seria" per essere interessante.
In occasione del vernissage, previsto per sabato 16 giugno alle ore 17.00, sarà visitabile l'anteprima della mostra, allestita fino al 31 agosto 2012, da lunedì a venerdì con orario 9.00-12.30 e 15.30-18.30, oppure su appuntamento, chiusura estiva 8-22 agosto 2012. Beck Wheeler è nata ad Amburgo, in Germania, ed è cresciuta a Beach Haven, in Nuova Zelanda. Ha trascorso undici anni in Australia, prima di fare ritorno in Nuova Zelanda nel 2010. Attualmente vive e lavora a Piha, sulla costa occidentale. Pittrice, scultrice, disegnatrice e ceramista, ha esposto regolarmente in Australia. Le sue precedenti mostre includono "Stuffed" (Newcastle, Australia, 2005), "Hey, Hey Which Way?" (Uber Gallery, St Kalida, Melbourne, Australia, 2008) e "Tarts and Flours" (19Karen Gallery, Gold Cost, QLD, Australia, 2011). È rappresentata in Australia da 19Karen Gallery (Gold Cost, QLD, Australia). La prima esposizione delle sue opere in ceramica si terrà presso Craft Victoria (Melbourne, VIC, Australia), dal 14 giugno al 28 luglio 2012.

First Italian exhibition for Beck Wheeler, a young German artist who lives and works in New Zealand. Her latest works will be showcased in Reggio Emilia at the boutique style gallery CSArt (Via S. Pietro Martire, 16/A), from June 16th until August 31st, 2012.
The exhibition presents fifteen works - sketches and sculptures - made out of found domestic objects such as sieves, whisks, wooden spoons and can openers. To quote Chiara Serri's critical text, «The artist creates a fantastic bestiary, combining found objects and bright colors, that can be related to childhood».
Imaginary creatures seasoned with pepper - the body is made of wood grinders - with a hint of irony, because art, as explained by the artist herself, doesn't need to be "serious" to be good.
The opening will be on Saturday, June 16th at 17.00. The exhibition runs until August 31st, 2012. Opening times: Monday to Friday 9.00-12.30 and 15.30-18.30 or by appointment. Summer holidays: from August 8th until August 22nd, 2012. For more information: info@csart.it - +39 0522 1970864.
Beck Wheeler was born in Hamburg, Germany, and grew up in Beach Haven, New Zealand. She spent 11 years in Australia, before returning to New Zealand in 2010. She currently lives and works in Piha, on the west coast. Painter, sculptor, sketcher and ceramist she exhibits her work regularly in Australasia. Her previous exhibitions include "Stuffed" (Newcastle, Australia, 2005), "Hey, Hey Which Way?" (Uber Gallery, St Kilda, Melbourne, Australia, 2008) and "Tarts and flours" (19Karen Gallery, Gold Cost, QLD, Australia, 2011). She is represented in Australia by 19Karen Gallery (Gold Cost, QLD, Australia). The first exhibition of her ceramic work is being exhibited at Craft Victoria (Melbourne, VIC, Australia) from June 14th until July 28th 2012.
